Elevating Radiation Detection: Meet MONA-DRONE!

Do you already know the latest member of our MONA family?

Discover the future of radiological remote sensing with MONA-DRONE – our innovative airborne solution for precise, efficient measurements from a bird’s-eye view. Whether for civil protection, emergency response, or radiation protection, MONA-DRONE sets new standards in the safe, rapid detection of radiological hazards.

MONA-DRONE enables the quick localization of radioactive sources and mapping of contaminated areas – without unnecessary exposure to emergency personnel. Especially in radiological events, MONA-DRONE optimally complements existing measurement methods.

MONA-DRONE

The advantages at a glance:

  • Operational range of up to 8 km – ideal for smaller areas.
  • Integrated LIDAR provides height-corrected data – precise activity determination of point sources or surface contamination.
  • Quickly deployable – tool-free assembly from transport cases within 90 seconds.

MONA-DRONE is fully integrated into the DJI Matrice 350 RTK industrial drone. This allows operation in sensitive areas such as nuclear power plants or airports, provided the necessary approvals are obtained. Wireless communication between MONA-DRONE and our proven NMC software takes place reliably via the remote control – even in locations without LTE coverage. Identified nuclides and their associated dose rates (GDR) are displayed directly on the remote control.

If regulatory requirements mandate the use of a different drone, the lightweight 1 kg MONA-DRONE detector unit can be adapted accordingly and connected via WiFi or LTE. MONA-DRONE itself can also be customized with an additional high-dose detector, a CsI or NaI scintillator, and many other options.

All measurement data is transmitted in real time to NMC and is available both to local users and the central monitoring station. This ensures that all data remains in one place – including the entire static measurement network and mobile probes.

More details about our new family member can be found here on our website and in a dedicated webinar (available soon). And if more detector volume is needed, there is also a big sister in the family: MONA-L with 4 liters of detector volume. Or 8 liters. Or 16 liters. What this – and MONA-EPR – have to offer will be revealed in one of the next newsletters. Stay tuned!
